SequLITE Genomics (a subsidiary of Fapon Biotech) is a growing life science company developing an NGS platform to enable sequencing for everyone. We are seeking a full-time hands-on System Engineer to join our team. Under the direction of the Director of Patterned Flow cell Research and Development, the System Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, optics engineers, and software engineers, and scientists to resolve technical problems and optimize system performance. This position also needs to support flow cell development, manufacturing and scale commercial operations in a fast-paced environment. The selected individual will work in a highly collaborative team environment that requires excellent communication skills and a “can do” attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis and troubleshooting of complex systems and equipment to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, optics engineers, and software engineers, and scientists to resolve technical problems and optimize system performance.
- Perform testing procedures to validate instrument functionality, diagnose failures and suggests improvements,
- Perform proper system integration of core modules, including Optics, Motion Controls, Fluidics, and others.
- Maintain instrument function and conduct sequencing runs.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop new process parameters and manufacturing methods.
- Support to flow cell development and manufacturing scale-up. Execute fabrication processes including inspections, photoresist coating and stripping, and flow cell assembly etc.
- Collect and analyze data to support process characterization and continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare and execute SOPs, work instructions, and experimental test plans.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemical/Biochemical/Materials/ Biomedical Engineering/ Mechanical or related field with 4+ years of industry experience.
- Experience working with biotechnology instrumentation and fluidic hardware (pumps, tubing, valves, etc.)
- Very detailed and self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Fast learner, adept and comfortable using computers & new software
- Good communication skills and team player.
- High critical thinking & problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and adept at precise & delicate hands-on work.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing requirements, priorities, and tight schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese
- Verification & Validation (V&V), design of experiments (DOE), root cause analysis (RCA), rapid prototyping
- Experience with basic programming principles (Matlab, Python, Java, etc.).
- Core fundamentals of math & sciences: mechanics, electronics, basic biology, etc.
- Familiarity with both biotechnology instrumentation and wet-laboratory techniques.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing or microfabrication will be an advantage.
- Experience in wet processing, visual inspections and assembly for chip fabrication will be an advantage.
