Incumbent is responsible for the provision of patient-level financial and clinical data and analysis to inform and partner with the medical center/assigned service line for financial and strategic decision making. Responsible for development of benchmarking, productivity metrics and service line analysis and data extract. Creates and presents market, financial, utilization and additional reports for service lines. Develops information and modeling to create effective recommendations to supervision/management. Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, expenses and capital expenditures. Prepares proformas for the effective analysis of new proposals or initiatives. Works with assigned service line to review internal and external trend analyses and effectively identify corrective measures as needed. Provides for the measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare industry and internal business objectives.
Essential Job Functions:

- Works with assigned service line to review internal and external trend analyses and effectively identify corrective measures as needed; Participates in the effective analysis of clinical/physician profiling and comparative analysis; Effectively makes internal and external contacts as necessary to obtain or validate data; Performs qualitative studies and comprehensive complex analyses. Prepares summary reports containing conclusions; Researches facts, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations for the most effective financial performance. 10%
- Responsible for development of benchmarking, productivity metrics and service line analysis and data extract. Creates and presents market, financial, utilization and additional reports for service lines. Develops tools to assist business leaders to manage and track performance to organizational goals. 10%
- Participates in the preparation of the annual operating budget. Works with assigned service line in the business planning and budgeting activities to align service line budgets with organizational goals. Performs all functions necessary to implement, maintain, and improve data integrity for the cost accounting and budget system. Works with department management throughout the year on Monthly Operating Reviews to assist with reconciliation of budget variances. Responsible for the accurate position control maintenance for each of the service line areas. 50%
- Develops information and modeling to create effective recommendations to supervision/management; Performs complex ad-hoc reporting and analysis and provides accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes. Assists with the preparation and completion of all finance analytics and reporting obligations. 10%
- Communicates effectively with upper management, peers and other disciplines within the hospital, outside agencies and other entities to ensure prompt and proper exchange of information and resolution of issues; Consults appropriately with internal and external organizations for accurate data sources; Troubleshoots unresolved problems. 10%
- Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, expenses, equity transfers and capital expenditures. Prepares proformas for the effective analysis of new proposals or initiatives. Identifies creative solutions and prepares alternative recommendations as appropriate; effectively provides consultative advice in area of expertise; Makes recommendations for improving existing processes based on analysis and follows through as appropriate. 10%

Required Qualifications:
- Must possess general knowledge of various reimbursement methodologies (per diem, per case, capitation, indemnity, etc)
- Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with staff and senior management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Evidence of sound critical thinking skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically
- Demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word
- Demonstrated knowledge of Decision Support Systems and subsystems
- Demonstrated advanced level of analytical skill
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to anticipate questions and address information needs by providing comprehensive analyses
- 5 years of experience in a hospital based environment working with general ledger and cost data as well as service line and payor analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in an academic medical center or complex teaching environment
- Masters degree in business administration, health administration, CPA, or other relevant degree program
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
