The General Manager will lead the machining center, drawing on a proven track record of machining and fabrication experience to deliver and delight customers. This role will lead efforts to optimize job costing & quoting, P&L and the overall profitability, develop a leadership support staff down to the operator level employees, and lead decision-making across quality control, supply chain, and production processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee plant management & leadership as well as shop employees, assign tasks, and schedule workloads, integrating customer orders into production.
- Oversee all aspects of CNC machine shop operations, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Lead engineering staff to develop and enhance manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Oversee all aspects of P&L, evaluating and recommending investments in new equipment, technology, and infrastructure for improved efficiency and capacity.
- Oversee procurement and inventory management to ensure sufficient supply of materials and tools for production schedules.
- Monitor and optimize machine utilization, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Implement safety protocols and quality control standards to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Manage inventory and oversee the procurement of necessary manufacturing materials.
- Review and monitor incoming requests for quotes on both new and completed projects, and tracking ongoing projects.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
- 10+ years of leadership in a machining environment with expert knowledge of CNC technology including mills, lathes, finishing, quality, and metrology.
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing & parts industry is required.
- Capable leadership, communication, and organizational abilities with previous experience in a leadership role at a specialty machining manufacturing facility is required.
- Proven track record of managing P&L, with a history of optimizing operational costs and driving revenue growth.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
