Job Summary: The Corporate Director of Engineering will oversee all engineering functions across Great Wolf’s multi-property portfolio, ensuring the highest standards of maintenance, safety, guest & PackMember satisfaction and overall efficiency. The individual in this role will guide engineering teams across Great Wolf’s 22+ properties to proactively monitor the preventive maintenance and enhancement of waterpark mechanicals for maintaining air and water quality and managing energy andwater efficiency programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hospitality and water park engineering management, a strong technical background, strong hands-on working experience, excellent leadership and communication abilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, update and implement engineering strategies aligned with the company’s goals, objectives, Engineering Scorecard, Water Park Downtime Tracker and act as corporate liaison and oversight for Directors of Engineering across the brand.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to engineering teams across all properties.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Maintain and evolve a standard Preventive Maintenance and a standard Maintenance Training program for all properties across the brand
Operations Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
- Manage energy,water and waste conservation programs to reduce operational costs and promote ESG Programs.
- Support the Brand related 3rd Party Audit program, ensure each resort is audited annually and appropriate follow-up/ corrective action plans are executed.
Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, manage and execute capital projects, renovations, and new construction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Development, Operations Project Manager and property management teams to ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
- Evaluate and approve engineering-related contracts while working with Procurement Department on Engineering related Master Service Agreements (MSA’s).
Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and mentor engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Interview Directors of Engineering, Assistant Directors of Engineering and Waterpark Maintenance Manager candidates
- Monitor quarterly progress of HDS Pack Member Training Program
- Continue to ensure that all Engineering Pack Members maintain their CPO certification and that new hires obtain their CPO certification with-in 90 days of hire date
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance team performance
- Promote professional development and career advancement opportunities for engineering personnel.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
- Work with Regional Directors of Finance and ENGIE (Utility Budget) to develop and manage engineering budgets, update annual Engineering OpEx Guidance items ensuring cost-effective operations and to ensure funds are available to maintain the assets.
- Work with Regional Directors of Finance to monitor expenditures and implement cost control measures.
- Work with Regional Directors of Finance as needed to prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all properties comply with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Work with Risk/Safety Department to address items listed in their regular safety audits and inspections.
- Work with Risk/Safety Department to ensure that allemergency response plans and training programs are up to date.
Innovation and Environment, Social & Governance (ESG)
- Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to enhance guest experiences and operational efficiency.
- Lead ESGinitiatives to reduce the environmental impact of engineering operations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field desired, or 15+ years of Operational Experience in Hospitality/Water Parks.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multi-property engineering operations.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and water park systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in using engineering management software and tools.
- Commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.
- Ability to travel to lodges up to 50% of the time.
