Job Description
Sloan Professional Services is performing a retained search for a Director of Development to grow and sustain corporate and foundation support for one of its top clients.
- Your goal is to establish the facility among the world’s most preeminent research facilities.
- Plan and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate and foundation prospects.
- Oversee all required stewardship activities, including acknowledging and reporting on grants.
- Manage a dynamic portfolio of prospects and grow the prospect pool.
- Build strong relationships with corporate and foundation representatives and influencers.
- Travel for face-to-face meetings.
- Respectfully utilize company networks to increase support for the campaign.
- Author proposals for and secure grants of $100,000+.
- Identify substantial investment opportunities for corporations and foundations.
- Build relationships with decision-makers.
- Develop strategic partnerships between funders and senior management.
- Coordinate corporate and foundation grant-seeking activities.
- Drive collaborative development and implementation of cultivation strategies for key funders.
- Arrange for and accompany the management team members on visits with funders.
- Contribute to the constituent database to ensure current and complete donor records.
- Utilize prospect management system.
- Ensure compliance with gifting policies as well as laws and regulations governing charitable giving.
- Evaluate and report the efficacy and ROI of corporate and foundation relations activities.
Skills Required
- MINIMUM of 5 years experience fundraising in a major campaign environment: research facility, biotech, or institution preferred.
- A strong track record of securing corporate and foundation investments.
- Possess documented success building and/or growing a corporate and foundation relations program.
- Proven success record of securing corporate and foundation investments of more than $100,000.
- Demonstrated success in grant-writing.
- Strong research skills.
- Sound judgment and integrity.
- Understanding of best practices and emerging trends in corporate and foundation relations.
- Willingness to test new approaches and take appropriate risks.
- Personal energy and enthusiasm and the ability to energize and motivate others.
- High-level user of Microsoft Office applications and constituent databases.
