What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Software Engineer on the US Risk Technology team, you’ll serve as a technology partner for the US risk management function. We are working on challenging projects, migrating ETL jobs from Talend to DataBricks, building workflow automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, data flows with Azure data lake storage and DevOps environment set up. This role offers exposure to the full range of the software development life cycle, from development to testing to support.
This is a hybrid position located in Chicago that requires on-site presence at least two days per week.
How You’ll Succeed
- Technical Skills – make the link between business problems and technology solutions with a cloud-first mindset. Using tools such as SQL, DataBricks, Talend, Python, Microsoft Power Platform and Azure Data Factory.
- Cloud Computing – Use the full range of Microsoft Azure Services with exposure to machine learning. Azure Certifications would be an asset (AZ-204).
- Documentation – Comfortable documenting each step of the software delivery life cycle on wiki and our change management software ServiceNow.
- DevSecOps – Write secure code following industry best practices and incorporate DevSecOps into your workflow.
- Communication – write with precision and clarity. Express technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Collaboration – build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders, technology partners, and external vendors.
- Business Savvy – apply knowledge of banking and risk management to ensure alignment between business objectives and software requirements.
- Continuous Learning – stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, changes in the banking industry, and regulatory developments.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate at least two years of experience in a technical role with a relevant post-secondary degree. Work with databases, cloud computing, or application development/support would be particularly relevant.
- You should be familiar with Python and be able to demonstrate the ability to write scripts, test and deploy code.
- You should be comfortable writing SQL queries and have basic familiarity with another programming language. Experience with Microsoft Azure and Power Platform would be valuable.
- It’s an asset if you have experience with DataBricks, automated testing, JIRA, ServiceNow, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- You understand banking fundamentals. Exposure to risk management, capital stress testing, credit risk models, and regulatory compliance would be particularly relevant.
