Position Title: RN Manager - Invasive Procedural Cardiology

Job Description:
The Invasive Cardiology Manager is a registered nurse with demonstrated transformational leadership skills, operational management skills, and expertise in the care of patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular procedures in the OUMC Cath lab, EP lab, and Edmond Cath lab. The Nurse Manager, using a high degree of professionalism, directs the planning, implementation, and evaluation of inpatient and outpatient care programs for adult and pediatric patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures to assure an effective continuum of care.
General Description:
Under general direction, responsible for the planning, direction, and coordination of services to ensure that quality health care is delivered.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the departments (Cath Lab/EP/Pre and Post Recovery area).
- Evaluates, develops, and implements process improvements to enhance safety and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for the hiring, promoting, discharging, and transferring of employees.
- Responsible for scheduling and staffing needs of the units 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Arranges appropriate in-services and continuing education programs to meet the needs of the staff in each departmental area.
- Ensures the proficiency of the staff in each of the departmental areas.
- Tracks, monitors, and reports trends in quality outcomes, satisfaction, productivity, and operational data.
- Leads rounding.
- Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives.
- Monitors and analyzes costs, prepares budgets.
- Evaluates the staff.
- Works cohesively with all departments to provide quality care.
- Develops and implements clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with hospital regulatory accrediting and professional guidelines and standards.
- Collaborates with administration and medical directors to improve service delivery and growth.
- Monitors and maintains accurate inventory service history and quality control records on all assigned equipment and ensures compliance with daily and periodic maintenance schedules.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor degree required. Graduate of an approved school or college of nursing; BSN required.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or charge experience in one of the specialty areas listed.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular catheterization theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Knowledge of general cardiac and electrophysiology practices, protocols, and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in recovery of invasive cardiac procedural patients and familiar with the discharge planning process.
- Managerial skills sufficient for organizing, developing, prioritizing, and supervising multiple departments and staff.
- Knowledgeable of managerial theory, techniques, and functions to include but not limited to operating budgets, personnel management, staffing, inventories, performance improvement, statistical measures, and report preparation.
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate ideas and directions in a clear and effective manner.
- Able to perform clinical functions as required.
