The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring a Medical Director to join our Telehealth team in Albuquerque, NM. This part-time opportunity is for 0.2-0.3FTE in administrative time. This is a hybrid work setting position.
Only UNM Health System Providers will be considered.
The Medical Director for the Center of Telemedicine will work in a complex environment as the state's only academic medical center and the primary teaching hospital.
Goals for the Medical Director will involve being a dyad leader with the Executive Director of HS Telehealth Services to maintain the current active telehealth programs while developing and implementing enterprise-wide telehealth solutions to accommodate the diverse needs of an academic medical center. While helping in the evolution and growth of telehealth internally the Medical Director will also be responsible for helping with the expansion of telehealth statewide to rural areas or those in need of UNM services.
Telehealth is evolving rapidly and will require flexible thinking, the ability to learn quickly, and the capacity to innovate/imagine solutions. The role will demand strong social, motivational, and presentation skills as you will be working with a variety of clinics, personnel, leadership groups, and projects. A successful Medical Director will also be well versed in healthcare with an understanding of clinic flows, billing, and regulations. A strong desire to learn will be valuable as Telehealth rules change often on a federal, state, and payor basis. As UNM expands care state-wide, being familiar with a rural population as well as experience offering services and/or contracting with these areas will be beneficial.
We anticipate this role will be highly rewarding and intellectually stimulating as the work will benefit countless New Mexicans across the state. The Center for Telehealth is a highly communicative, talented, and collaborative team that looks forward to welcoming someone interested in a role with a high impact on NM's health delivery ecosystem.
