ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who can support in Program Management Oversight providing direct support to federal and state clients on the management and delivery of transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have managed multi-disciplinary projects with comprehensive knowledge of and significant experience in all areas of public project management and the project delivery process. Candidate experience to include engineering design of transportation projects, program and project scheduling, schedule management and control, project budget management and control, including implementation of earned value performance measurement on projects, project cash flow development and management, program and project scope development and control, document control and records management, and knowledge of basic Federal, State, and regional transportation grant and fund programming processes. Previous experience providing program management oversight services for public or government agencies is highly desirable. Knowledge of commuter railroad, Class I railroad and California state highway projects is also desirable; however, it is not required.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and organized, can support in administrative processes, and is able to navigate technical subject matter related to transportation and/or environmental programs and projects. This position can be REMOTE as long as the candidate has a CA Engineering License.
A candidate for this position should have strong listening and communication skills with the ability to write materials that relay a clear message. Additionally, we are seeking someone eager to learn, be a team player and possessing a desire to grow in their career. The primary types of projects the candidate will be assigned include federal grant-funded project administration, state programs for special transportation categories, and transportation planning pursuits.
General Responsibilities:
- Receives instructions from a Project Manager, Senior Project Planners, or Senior Project Engineers as to the assigned tasks, budget for tasks, and general results expected.
- Conducts research and prepares documentation.
- Gathers and analyzes data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
- Works as part of the team to prepare recommendations and alternatives.
- Compiles and analyzes data on site conditions, compliance reviews, and facilitation and implementation of programs and services required by federal, state and local legislation.
- Attends, participates, and documents meetings.
- Assists with project organization and document management.
- Occasionally will participate in on site/field reviews and documentation of existing site conditions.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies.
QualificationsWhat you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- California Professional Engineer license.
- 10-20 years of relevant experience including 5 years as Project Manager of large multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong oral and written skills.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of database software.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $94,000 - $145,000 annually.
