Position Information:
Provides in house legal counsel in the WakeMed Office of Legal Affairs and reports to the Vice President and Chief Legal Officer CLO or other attorney in the WakeMed Office of Legal Affairs. Provides legal services to WakeMed and its affiliates and subsidiaries. The services provided will cover a comprehensive array of legal issues facing the health system and health care providers such as healthcare contracting and transactions patient care managed care/third party reimbursement EMTALA HIPAA and health care regulatory compliance. Prepares reviews and negotiates contracts with vendors and commercial partners in a variety of areas such as supply chain support services purchase clinical research academic affiliation agreements and other routine transactions. Participates in internal management of the contracting process and contract lifecycle management resources. Conducts legal research and provides counsel to members of management and various departments on legal compliance and regulatory matters. Monitors legislative regulatory government enforcement and other activities related to fraud abuse compliance and legal matters affecting WakeMed operations. Collaborates extensively with WakeMed entities departments and providers to understand their processes and business practices. Responsible for providing legal and risk management advice and counsel on a variety of healthcare and regulatory matters related to general hospital operations. Recommends and provides content for appropriate education and training related to areas of interest to the WakeMed entities. Provides shared after-hours call coverage from time to time. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Ensures that work performed supports the WakeMed mission vision and values to improve the health of the communities it serves with a focus on patient- and family-centered care. In providing legal services supports patient- and family-centered care in a partnership among patients families and providers in the giving and receiving of healthcare services. Develops solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with clinical enterprise objectives while maintaining a perspective of WakeMed?s vision and goals. Manages workload in a diligent dependable and organized fashion in order to manage high volume of matters simultaneously under deadline pressure. Performs related duties as assigned by the CLO.
Experience Requirements:
2 Years Legal - Health System Hospital Multi-Specialty Physician Practice Required - Or Related Position Experience And Healthcare Law And Legal Advising And Legal Agreement Negotiating and Drafting Required
Education Required:
Doctorate Law Required
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed to Practice Law Required
