The Associate Director, Parent Giving is a new position that will play a pivotal role in the 2030 Campaign Plan and increasing the overall results of the Annual Giving Program team. The Annual Giving team is dedicated to increasing unrestricted support to the Naval Academy and engaging with and stewarding all alumni, parents and friends that support the Naval Academy on an annual basis. This a exempt position and will report to the Executive Director, Annual Giving Programs.
This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located next to the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association & Foundation moved into the new Fluegel Alumni Center, which was built on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.
EXPECTATIONS
- In coordination with the Annual Giving team, develop and implement a solicitation, stewardship and engagement communication calendar specific to current and past parents of Naval Academy midshipmen.
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns targeted specifically at parents.
- Management of these campaigns will include:
- Design of solicitation strategy
- Coordination of collateral material, print and electronic
- Management of data segmentation, preparation, and delivery to various vendors
- Oversight of parent solicitation with our phone/mail vendor
- Oversight of the annual entry of new parent data in the Foundation / Alumni Association’s CRM database, including working with Annual Giving intern over the summer to ensure new parent records are correct
- Work closely with colleagues in Annual Giving, Regional Development, and Leadership Annual Giving to coordinate strategies and initiatives that integrate parent giving into broader fundraising efforts. Partner with Donor Engagement team to build out parent stewardship communications.
- Collaborate with Director, Parent Programs and other Engagement colleagues to understand how the Alumni Association interacts with parents and identify areas of partnership and amplification of parent communications.
- Utilize fundraising databases and analytics to track donor interactions, analyze giving trends, and inform decision-making.
- Produce regular reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement metrics, and return on investment for parent giving initiatives.
- Enhance the visibility of parent giving programs through effective marketing strategies and participation in events and activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
- Fundraising experience in Parent and/or Annual Giving programs. Experience in and educational development environment preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented team player with unquestionable integrity and a solid work ethic. Must work well independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in crafting compelling solicitation materials and donor correspondence.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement fundraising plans to achieve measurable results.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Proficient in the use of fundraising database/software, including Reports, Query, Export, Mail, and Constituent Management (preferably Blackbaud’s CRM or similar constituent management systems)
- Perform or assist other duties as assigned.
- A sincere and enthusiastic belief in the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy.
- This position is based in Annapolis and is not eligible for full-time telecommuting, hybrid work policy available with approval of individual supervisor.
