Meet The Team
Dexcom is seeking a Senior Project Manager - IP System Specialist to join our IP Ops team at Dexcom. The position will report to the Director, IP Legal Counsel, Operations and Compliance and will be joining our team which is responsible for optimizing IP services, driving IP projects, and managing IP systems and processes, while working collaboratively with global IP professionals, outside counsel, Dexcom legal operations colleagues, and legal operations vendors. This role is critical in ensuring that the IP team is innovating, improving, and handling IP matters efficiently and effectively.
Where You Come In
The Dexcom IP OPs team has overall responsibility for managing IP systems and processes for the IP team. This position takes responsibility for:
- Management of Anaqua IP Management System, including maintaining data integrity, developing, and maintaining reports in the HyperView environment, and supervising, coordinating, monitoring, and programming processes within Anaqua.
- Help design and implement best practices and continuously improve procedures and systems to support IP team strategic goals and objectives.
- Plan and execute IP team projects working with cross-functional associates and external partners to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the IP team.
- Drive design, implementation and maintenance of IP docketing policies, guidelines, processes, forms, and associated projects in collaboration with IP professionals.
- Collaborate with legal operations colleagues on law department processes, including billing.
- Enforce outside counsel compliance with Dexcom docketing and billing procedures.
- Develop and implement user training, including user guides for Dexcom associates and outside counsel.
- Ensure implementation of substantive law and rule changes.
- As needed, assist other IP Legal OPs team members with their day-to-day tasks, e.g., in view of vacation, workloads, volume, etc.
What Makes You Successful
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or paralegal certificate with significant relevant experience.
- At least 4-5 years of related experience.
- Extensive experience using, managing, and programming IP management/docketing software (Anaqua strongly preferred), as well as managing and using billing systems (Brightflag or Legal Tracker preferred).
- Experience with document management systems and USPTO sites including Patent Center and TSDR.
- Strong process and project management skills.
- Experience in a large in-house IP department or law firm, handling a large volume of patent preparation and prosecution matters.
- Knowledge of patent and trademark lifecycle and processes from invention through maintenance.
- Experience developing legal operations processes and documentation.
- Experience with managing data quality and integrity, monitoring metrics and developing reports.
- Proven leadership experience, with demonstrated inter-personal skills and the ability to teach and coach, and work within multiple teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing organizational and process change.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with an ability to identify issues, develop creative solutions and learn quickly.
- Demonstrated ability managing vendor relationships, and working with vendors, including outside law firms to optimize shared software and electronic records.
- High proficiency in database management, software, and technology and the efficient use and programming of software and technology for organization, reporting and automating processes.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks.
- High proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe, (Smartsheet and Power BI a plus).
- Strong strategic thinking with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience And Education
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 – 8 years of related experience.
Travel Required
Flex Workplace:Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).
