Job Overview: Responsible for repair and service of all mechanical equipment in property including refrigeration equipment, assist Director of Engineering with the supervision of the department.
Compensation: $29.00-$32.00 per hour
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform general repair and maintenance of any and all equipment found in and around the hotel.
- Specific work areas will be assigned as needed to each employee, based on skill level and experience.
- Accurate record keeping on assigned tasks is required.
- Ensure that all safety systems are operable.
- Respond to guest room calls as required.
- Assist laundry mechanic and preventative maintenance mechanic as required.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computational and computer skills.
- Must have the ability to estimate costs on projects related to refrigeration, HVAC, heating and machinery.
Physical Demands:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F).
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 2 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments and locations of the hotel.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Other Expectations:
- Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules.
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
- Complies with health and safety rules, regulations and procedures to maintain a safe environment.
Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent education required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years hands-on experience as a mechanic working on HVAC equipment, pumps, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and control systems.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government-required licenses, certificates, or permits.
