Job Summary
CRH Americas, Inc. is seeking an experienced attorney to join its collaborative legal department. In this hands-on role, you will report to an Associate General Counsel and work closely with the Company’s Environmental Health & Safety (“EHS”) managers. This role requires knowledge of litigation and commercial contracts, as well as the skill to identify and address potential litigation risks.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with the Company’s operating companies to assert or respond to claims and lawsuits.
- Review and negotiate contracts.
- Collaborate with the Company’s operating companies to identify and prevent potential claims.
- Manage claims consultants and outside counsel.
- Evaluate the Company’s litigation practices and develop innovative ways to reduce litigation.
- Analyze regulations and legal precedent to make legal recommendations.
- Serve as the Company’s legal counsel in negotiations with government regulators.
- Research, review, interpret, and draft legal documents such as consent decrees.
- Supervise litigation, including insurance and contract claims.
- Review budgets and invoices from consultants and outside counsel.
- Assist in the preparation of documents needed for accurate financial reporting.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of internal and external clients.
- Provide legal training to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Represent the Company’s operating companies in enforcement or regulatory matters.
- Identify legal exposures and ensure processes are in place to mitigate those exposures.
- Counsel managers and other employees regarding legal matters.
- Provide legal support for acquisitions and divestitures.
- Provide training on claims, compliance, and contracts.
- Select, develop, evaluate, motivate, retain, discipline, and train staff, if needed.
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- License to practice law in at least one state.
- At least three years of practicing construction law or general litigation.
- Knowledge of best-in-class practices regarding litigation management.
- General knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of Westlaw and other legal research databases.
Work Requirements
- Must have expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties.
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%, primarily in the Western United States.

- Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to visualize and communicate solutions.
- Knowledge of the historic legal issues facing construction businesses, including antitrust compliance.
- Working knowledge of legal issues related to insurance coverage.
