We’re currently seeking a talented Electrical Engineer (Professional Engineer). This is a key role at Over J and will help us with scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality. The Professional Engineer will be housed in the Engineering department, will report to the Program Manager, and will work closely with Project Engineers and Associate Engineers. The ideal candidate will provide engineering expertise, assist with leading teams, and ensure all staff and clients practice safe Standardized Practices on assigned projects. The Professional Engineer will be a full-time position and is expected to work on-site in our Downtown Los Angeles office.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Professional Engineer is a fast-paced and collaborative role and will have a variety of duties. To be a successful Professional Engineer you will be required to design, check, and sign electrical drawings. You should have the ability to comprehend complex systems, identify the sources of any problems, and know what actions to take. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll carry out various engineering tasks, such as performing calculations, to ensure our systems meet all applicable Safety Standards. The Professional Engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Oversee project design, structure, and details throughout the life cycle of the project
- Work with Project Managers, Engineers and other stakeholders and project contributors in identifying project risk and planning appropriate mitigation actions
- Implement Best Practices, applicable standards, and appropriate use of technology in the execution of designs/delivery
- Ensure that staff are competent and properly utilized and educated on project scope
- Modify practices and procedures to ensure that undue risk is avoided
- Utilize computer-aided design software and other equipment to support project designs and plans
- Lead staff with a focus on developing talent, and providing innovative, effective technical solutions
- Review electrical design specifications and drawings
- Maintain current NEC code knowledge
- Prepare and document required code research for projects
- Develop and maintain Electrical Basis of Design Journal for each assigned project
- Conduct material and product research as required for project development
- Ability to sign drawings
- Define client needs and requirements
- Design, control and implement electrical systems
- Manage Engineering projects and staff properly to ensure timely delivery
SUPERPOWERS:
We are looking for a super star in the field of engineering. You will need the following skills/abilities:
- Professional Engineering License P.E. (Professional Engineer)
- B.S in Electrical Engineering
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to identify, create, and design drawings
- Ability to author routine reports and correspondence
- Proven expertise as an Electrical Engineer
- Deep knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes
- Understanding of Electrical Engineering codes and Safety Standards
- Master's in Electrical engineering is a plus
- Knowledge of design and visualization software, such as AutoCAD and AVEVA E3D
- Experience working with Revit and Bluebeam
