The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will lead all aspects of engineering and maintenance of a multi-product (Cell Therapy, & Single Use Assemblies/Final Fill Solutions) operation at the Life Sciences Manufacturing Facility in Gaithersburg, MD
Will ensure customers' expectations are exceeded by leading the plant to its full potential, delivering high quality products at market leading levels. This is accomplished by identifying and delivering continuous improvement activities that enhance facility performance, manufacturing efficiency, equipment up-time, product quality, and operating costs.
Will manage cross-functional projects that enhance efficiency, add capacity, support future growth, and prioritize CAPEX investments.
Will lead, develop and coach all engineers and maintenance employees, including salaried Maintenance Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineers, and hourly maintenance technicians, ensuring the completion of all standard work, projects, and deliverables safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Essential Functions:
- Properly balance the workload and different project time spans
- Manages plant engineering activities related to capital expenditure covering design, cost estimation, request submissions, selection/construction, and compliance with local, state and federal environmental and fire prevention standards
- Champions reliability pillar centered engineering activities, in driving equipment reliabilities to the highest possible levels to eliminate upset conditions and losses
- Communicates and works with internal contacts including, but not limited to; all plant teams in the coordination and scheduling of plant repairs, equipment modifications or installations; purchasing and accounting personnel on requisitions and capital request data; and corporate engineering on special projects
- With the proper sense of urgency and priority problem solves significant situations involving review of appropriate maintenance strategies, scheduling of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and the installation, modification and /or repair of equipment in a manner which will assure employee safety, minimize production downtime and assure consistent product quality.
- Track and present all key performance indicators (KPIs), performance measures and PM activities
- Provides coaching/mentoring and communicates performance updates and plans as directed
- Models company Vision, Mission and Values and champions Organizational Health methods
- Works in an effective and cross-functional manner with all members of the plant management team
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 5 or more years of experience in a Regulated Industry
- 5 or more years of Project Management experience
- 5 or more years of Leadership experience with direct or indirect management/influence of teams and stakeholders
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Engineering or related field
- 3 or more years of Manufacturing experience within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, etc.
- WCM Experience (6-sigma) or green belt certification

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,887 to $174,924. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
