About This Job
User Experience is the function that applies principles and techniques of discovery, research, design, and content strategy to define the experience a user has in a product.
As a
SeniorManager Product Design,you will lead design initiatives, to help identify and solve challenges for the Paylocity user groups within the Product organization. You will lead and help mentor your team of designers, helping establish best practices and uphold standards across your teams. You are a storyteller, have a diverse set of skills, are a driver of change, are open to new possibilities, are impact-oriented, and have a great cultural fit.
Responsibilities
- Create alignment on schedules and plan definitions, including dependency tracking across the disciplines and products.
- Collaborate with product and development leaders to shepherd end-to-end experiences from concept to ship for large and/or complex products.
- Influence the product strategy and lead others in defining needs of large and/or complex product designs based on multiple factors such as user insights and the business needs.
- Mentor and support designers, actively participating in the requirements definition process and influencing project or feature goals.
- Provide strategic insight for project planning and work with other managers or report directly to senior leadership.
- Exhibit exceptional negotiation skills, adeptly communicating and facilitating trade-off decisions to reach win-win agreements and consensus among stakeholders.
- Connect the dots between teams to enable collaboration, identifying opportunities to build on the work of others and leverage previous work.
- Prioritize critical or frequently encountered user goals and identify the optimal design opportunities.
- Possess the judgment to discern the appropriate timing for conceptual designs, and you understand how and when to present them to UX and product leadership.
- Lead communication workstreams for effective communication across groups, exploring new ways of storytelling, and are recognized as an expert in evangelizing designs through communication.
- Are recognized as an expert storyteller, known for your ability to captivate and influence audiences.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human computer Interaction (HCI) in Human Cognition, Interaction Design, Human Factors, but candidates with 10+ years of applied experience within the UX field.
- Exceptional visual, communication, and presentation skills.
- Must be able to tackle complex design problems, in undefined problem spaces.
- Possess a broad set of UX skills and advanced experience in design and system design within a complex information architecture.
- Proven ability to collaborate on process improvements and influence. product/engineering counterparts in an organization.
Soft Skills
- Expert communicator and facilitator to stakeholders within business.
- Relentlessly curious about tech and market trends, able to adapt accordingly.
- Unflinching in your desire to advocate best user experience possible.
- Ability to build relationships in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing for Saas products in agile environment.
- Proven experience in mentoring and coaching team members.
- Stay up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and being able to adapt to changing design requirements.

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $159,091 - $225,101/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
