Platform Engineerstranslate high level platform design into low level technical design and are responsible for implementing, administering, supporting, and patching their corresponding platforms. Platform Engineers work closely with Solution Architects to enable the capabilities defined on roadmaps and blueprints supporting platform programs and initiatives. Platform Engineers are well versed in modern data, infrastructure and integration platforms, industry/technology best practices, and actively work on improving the reliability and scalability of infrastructure while streamlining operational processes.
The
Platform Engineeris responsible for the installation, development, configuration, and operations of the
Merchandising D365 F&O cloud environment.This role provides solution performance analysis and tuning guidance along with ensuring alignment between business solution and systems architecture. This includes being a primary liaison and point of coordination with horizontal infrastructure and cloud teams providing foundation technology and services in support of our environments. This Platform Engineer role will be responsible for helping to document, design, and develop the D365 cloud infrastructure and all of its capabilities and integrations, ensuring that security, configuration and management is hardened into all of these components.

ROLE
- Collaborates with delivery pods and Architects to improve production deployments, platform operations, and environment stability.
- Assesses technical components, translates high level design into low level technical design and executes updates based on SLAs.
- Manages the platform on an ongoing basis while performing typical run functions like monitoring, patching and support.
- Leads and conducts code reviews, design reviews, testing, and debugging activities at the application level.
- Conducts regular platform checkups and report inefficiencies to relevant business and technology stakeholders.
- Collaborates with infrastructure and/or provisioning groups to stand up the platform.
- Develops and builds scalable and generalized frameworks to support the integration of internal and third-party APIs.
- Performs analysis on existing platform components to identify improvements to software development processes.
- Develops and implements Platform as a Service (PaaS) Solutions.
- Performs coding tests to validate hardware design correctness, and creates software regression tests to ensure its reliability.
- Delivers against business objectives by effectively managing and partnering with technology vendors.
- Tests diagnostics (including) automated regression testing.
- Authors and executes test cases related to supporting the implementation of platform development work.
- Maintains the catalog of services for the platform in collaboration with the Architects.
- Ensures application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant with company standards and practices as well as regulatory requirements.
- Implements and maintains system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards.
- Implements service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems.
- Configures, implements, customizes, and tests software and hardware; documents software and hardware defects; and reviews and interprets error logs to diagnose errors.
- Interfaces with Info security, Merchandise Platform Engineer, Architect, DevOps Engineer, Data Engineer, Cloud Tech, and 3rd Party Vendors to stand up the platform.
- Drives governance through designing, developing, implementing, supporting, and documenting enterprise policies, standards, guidelines, monitoring services, solutions, configurations, and procedures.
- Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes required for system growth (both on-prem and cloud) by utilizing industry standard monitoring and research tools, observability and telemetry data.
- Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options, implements solutions, communicates results to ensure corrective and timely action is taken, and manages incident resolution to ensure all components work together.
- Manages/Coordinates virtual servers including: server provisioning, upgrading, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance optimization.
- Develops and implements Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS/PaaS) Solutions.
- Remediates platform issues and bottlenecks impacting software development activities.
- Supports the creation of documentation and artifacts used for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Identifies, develops/documents, implements, reviews, and revises process improvements, procedures, and controls (including SOX) to ensure data accuracy, security, legal, and regulatory compliance.
- Recommends and follows security management practices, including the ongoing promotion of awareness on current threats, auditing of server logs, and other security management processes.
- Creates queries, programs, scripts, and reports supporting and adhering to change control policies that help to define and develop best practices for systems management and automation.
- Works in an Agile environment; collaborates with Operations, Development, and QA functions to develop solutions and systems that are predisposed to scalability, security, and simplified maintenance, utilizing automation.
- Performs analysis on existing platform components to identify improvements in software development processes.
- Supports the authoring and execution of test cases related to the implementation of platform development work.
- Participates in DevOps, Agile, and continuous integration frameworks.
- Mentors members of the IWM and Merchandise Platform and Ops team and will be an education resource.
Required
- 6+ years’ of IT experience with at least 3 years’ in product implementation and hands-on cloud technical activities within enterprise environments.
- Documented experience of application administration, not limited to installation, configuration, and management of Windows and cloud-based software systems.
- Working knowledge of monitoring/logging and dashboarding tools such as Splunk, Azure Health monitor, Azure Log analytics, Azure Application insights, etc.
- Working knowledge of cloud services and Windows operating systems, shell scripting, package management systems, and other utilities.
- Working knowledge of version control and automation tools such as Azure DevOps, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins etc.
- Knowledge of React Native, GraphQL, NodeJS.
- Experience with IaaS, PaaS, and Cloud solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated; detail-oriented with excellent organization and documentation skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to issue resolution.
- Able to support off-hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Recommended
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent software/services experience.
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language.
- Experience with MS SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, SynapseDB, CosmosDB, Table Storage etc.
- Azure Cloud Experience and certifications.
- Experience with D365 F&O implementations.
- Knowledge of Azure Bus Topics, Queue.
- Proven expertise in Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning.
- Understanding of Configuration Management and Change Management Best Practices.

Level 2 - $105,000 - $135,000
Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000
Level Senior - $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) Eligible
