Coffman Engineers is seeking aSenior Fire Protection Engineerwith 7+ years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multi-discipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun.
You would be providing our clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis and special inspection as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research. May plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the professional work as part of a major project or for a total project of moderate scope. May supervise or coordinate the work of other professionals who assist in specific assignments.

Duties
- Provide fire protection consulting engineering services to a variety of potential clients, including but not limited to architects, developers, owners, government, and insurers.
- Provide fire and life safety code consulting for relevant ICC (IBC, IFC, IMC) codes and NFPA standards.
- Develop fire models, smoke control models/analysis, and pressurization models/analysis.
- Review and provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance.
- Develop fire safety strategies for special hazards.
- Deliver prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.
- Design fire alarm, fire detection, and fire suppression systems.
- Review, develop, and commission smoke control systems.
- Perform site visits and communicate with architects, contractors, and consulting teams.
- Participate in and lead internal team meetings and external client meetings.
- Present design approaches to authorities having jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with multiple teams across multiple offices in a multi-discipline environment.
- Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
- Work independently and supervise the efforts of a small team.
- Manage and participate in multiple projects simultaneously and profitably.
- Maintain a working relationship with clients.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Compensation and Benefits
- Approximate Base Salary – $126,000 – $150,000 annually
- Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
- Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
- Hybrid Work Schedule(subject to change)
401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Sciences, or related engineering field.
- 7+ years of professional experience in Fire Protection Engineering (consulting)
- EIT, NICET III, and PE preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating with a multi-discipline design team
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Revit
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with CONTAM, fire dynamic simulation, Pathfinder, and/or other fire protection engineering modeling software
- Experience with managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
- Experience attending and participating in local professional organizations, such as SFPE
- Experience performing building and fire code analysis and code interpretations
- Experience developing engineering judgements for code alternatives
- Experience designing fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems and performing analysis of existing fire protection systems
- Project management experience, including project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs

- Ability to work with counterparts in other offices to share workload when required
