Reporting to UCR's Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Associate Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the School of Medicine (SOM) at UCR leads and executes SOM's strategic IT initiatives in alignment with UCR ITS goals. Overseeing a team of IT professionals, this role delivers and implements a comprehensive range of IT products and services, including application services, infrastructure, networking, enterprise systems project management, information security, and data services.
The Associate CIO chairs committees to evaluate and select cost-efficient, advanced technologies and oversees IT security within the health setting. In collaboration with the CMIO, the Associate CIO develops systems to meet the operational demands of clinical practice sites across a 220-mile region. This role also manages innovative IT solutions that support the SOM's educational, research, and clinical missions.
The Associate CIO oversees technology services for the SOM, including network resources, classroom technology, standalone technology resources, and web-based resources. They plan, develop, deploy, and maintain research technologies and services from the SOM, campus, cloud, or other UC Health locations. They also provide leadership in planning, designing, developing, installing, and maintaining hardware and software services, including cloud and custom systems. This requires understanding the systems and technologies used by medical schools and clinical enterprises, including platforms like the Medical Student Admissions System (AMP), New Innovations (Undergraduate & Graduate Medical Education), and Curriculum Management System. The Associate CIO partners with the CMIO to oversee UCR Health EMR systems such as EPIC.
With strong change management and communication skills, the Associate CIO develops and implements IT policies and protocols. They ensure structured roll-outs of new systems and applications, including training for faculty, staff, and students. The Associate CIO also directs risk assessments and implements strategies to address risks. This position regularly interfaces with the SOM Senior Leadership team, UCR Health Leadership team, and ITS leadership team to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with UCR's broader IT strategy. The Associate CIO for SOM is a senior leadership role within both ITS and SOM, providing leadership, vision, strategy, and direction for all technology-related initiatives, aligning with UCR's central IT goals.

The full salary range for the Associate CIO, School of Medicine is $156,700 - $316,700 annually. However, the pay scale for this position is up to $236,700 annually. UCR bases salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
