POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for an Electronics Engineer 3 in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: Support the Advanced Light Source, a 1.9 GeV Synchrotron Accelerator complex at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Work with the Advanced Light Source Operations, Engineering and Scientific teams to contribute to scientific beamline equipment protection and automation engineering efforts and apply standard engineering, scientific, and/or other technical concepts to provide technical support for the beam line equipment. Under consultation with scientists and engineers, provide functional requirements, electronic hardware and software design, documentation, procurement, fabrication/installation instruction, test procedures and system commissioning for the ALS Beamline systems. Perform assignments related to operating, programming, and repairing the instrumentation, evaluating and supporting the procurement of new instrumentation, as well as troubleshooting automation systems and instruments. Supervising several engineers and their performance management. May telecommute up to 50%.
Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $114,900 to $193,860 per year depending upon candidates' full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in an electrical engineering-related occupation. Position requires:
1. Automation control design;
2. Industrial Controls Systems: PLC, SCADA, or DCS;
3. Vacuum instrumentation;
4. Python, MATLAB, and C++;
5. CAD tools: AutoCAD, or schematic capture; and
6. Electrical codes and electrical safety: NEC, LOTO and NFPA 70E.
