The Head of Critical Care EMS at Royal Ambulance is a highly motivated, engaging, and supportive leader passionate about pre-hospital and critical care. With a proven track record in leadership, you will oversee Royal’s CCT and ALS programs, which respond to over 10,000 critical care transport requests annually. Known for our expertise in supporting high-risk cardiac patients with mechanical circulatory devices, we also provide comprehensive services, including inter-facility, standby, and 911 ambulance services.
In this role, you'll improve operations by optimizing resource allocation, enhancing deployment strategies, and streamlining workflows between clinical and operational teams. Work with customers to increase satisfaction and collaborate with EMS and healthcare stakeholders to share best practices. Promote a cooperative environment and design a leadership structure to support growth and scalability. Supervise a team of managers and 80 personnel, ensuring high-quality care and service. Mentor CCT/ALS teams to encourage continuous learning and strong performance. Your strategic vision will enhance stakeholder relationships and contribute to the future of critical care transport. Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a vital member of the Royal Ambulance leadership team, championing our culture and values.
- Drive progressive and cutting-edge clinical education, training, and mentorship.
- Guide, coach, mentor, and support the professional development of a team of managers dedicated to field clinicians.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility for the CCT and ALS divisions.
- Drive CCT and ALS growth across new markets in collaboration with business development.
- Develop continuous quality improvement plans, educational content, protocols, and clinical practice guidelines.
- Travel to and attend regional and local EMS and critical care-related meetings, representing Royal Ambulance.
- Undertake various additional duties as reasonably assigned to ensure smooth and efficient operation of services.
Minimum Qualifications: - Proven experience in building, leading, and managing teams.
- Expertise in budgeting and driving operational and financial KPIs.
- Minimum of five (5) years working as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department (preferred) or ICU, or as a Critical Care/Flight Paramedic.
- Hands-on experience in Critical Care Transport, either ground or air.
- Demonstrated ability in developing educational content and training for nurses and paramedics.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prepare and submit regulatory data.
- Active (or obtainable) unencumbered Paramedic or Registered Nurse license.
- Current certifications from the American Heart Association in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Trauma Certification (TPATC, PHTLS, ITLS).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% locally (Bay Area, CA) and 5% overnight.
$165,000 - $210,000 a year
