Job Summary:
The Director of LATAM Government Affairs will have the unique opportunity to leverage their expertise and leadership skills, working with a diverse team to influence and shape public policy across Latin America. This role will play a critical role in ensuring the company's interests are well-represented at the highest levels of government.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy, maintaining a robust bipartisan network and strategic policy communications program with elected and appointed officials, primarily focusing on federal government officials in Mexico, Brazil, and other Latin American countries.
- Policy Advocacy: Lead lobbying efforts on specific healthcare proposals and bills, influencing legislation and regulatory issues to align with company interests. Drive initiatives to amend or introduce legislation beneficial to the company's strategic goals.
- Executive Communication: Draft and communicate high-level insights to executive leadership and other senior managers regarding the implications of proposed and current legislation and regulations, identifying market development opportunities and providing a geopolitical overview.
- Regulatory Engagement: Represent the company in communications with regulatory and legislative bodies, including delivering testimony at public hearings and preparing regulatory comments and other communications to influence legislative outcomes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with industry associations, business coalitions, and interest groups to advance policy, legislative, regulatory, and trade goals. Enhance the company's public profile and drive growth through strategic alliances.
- Global Coordination: Work closely with the Global Government Affairs team to draft and maintain internal and external communications, manage communication platforms related to the company’s government relations function, and oversee corporate political action committees.
Qualifications/Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in government, as a public servant in a relevant department or agency, or as a government relations liaison with a major multinational company or industry trade association.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding and experience with the public healthcare systems in Mexico, Brazil, and other Latin American countries from a legislative and executive perspective.
- Extensive knowledge of government procurement and regulatory processes.
- Proven experience as a senior legislative aide in a congressional office, such as a Legislative Director.
- Significant healthcare industry experience.
- Comprehensive background in Latin American healthcare, environmental, trade, and other legislative and regulatory issues.
- Exceptional ability to quickly understand and address various government dynamics and legislative and regulatory issues impacting the company and its industry.
- Strong capability to build and maintain robust bipartisan relationships.
- A global perspective with a keen understanding of the implications of policy proposals on the global marketplace, particularly throughout the Americas.
- Proficiency in additional languages, primarily Spanish, with English and Portuguese as strong assets.
