LOCATION:
The Partnership team works in a hybrid capacity. This position is expected to be in schools 40-80% of the time, with occasional visits to the Partnership office in Downtown LA. School sites are based in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.

Launched in 2007, the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools’ mission is to transform schools to revolutionize school systems, empowering all students with a high-quality education. The Partnership is a non-profit, in-district partner to LA Unified, not a charter network. As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Partnership is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Director of Curriculum Systems Advising to join the Partnership’s K-12 Mathematics Team. The Director will play a vital role in the Partnership’s systems change efforts to serve high-need schools across Los Angeles, sitting at the intersection of policy and practice. The Director will scale effective professional learning and curriculum implementation systems to LAUSD schools with a focus on mathematics.
In addition to the district consultation work, the Director will provide professional learning experiences that are co-designed with the region, as well as direct coaching to school leaders in a portfolio of up to 10 schools, in collaboration with the Curriculum System Advising Coordinators and Vice President of Curriculum Systems Advising. This is a full-time, year-round position and is grant-funded until summer 2029.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
School Leader Capacity Building (40%)
- Build professional learning systems that sustain improvement in alignment with LAUSD’s priorities for school leaders in collaboration with LAUSD staff and Curriculum Systems Advising Coordinators.
- Implement high-quality mathematics curriculum in partnership with school leaders, leveraging data to adjust and strengthen instruction.
- Support the development of teacher leaders and distributed leadership on school sites.
Regional Coordination & Alignment (20%)
- Serve as a consultative partner to LAUSD Regional Leadership Teams to align and ensure the success of professional development and support to schools across one Region.
- Leverage teacher practice and student outcome data to support regular reflection and strategic adjustments to the Regional professional learning plan.
- Lead the development, design, and facilitation of strategic professional learning pathways for the Region.
- Support collaboration between the Division of Instruction (DOI), LAUSD Regions, and the Partnership by maintaining positive and open working relationships with senior LAUSD staff.
Strategic Professional Learning Design (20%)
- Lead collaboration with other members of the Curriculum Systems Advising and Math Teams to design and steward a professional learning pathway for specific audiences.
- Collaborate with the VP of Curriculum Systems Advising and Revolutionize Team to identify and amplify bright spots from Partnership work.
Team Management (20%)
- Manage up to two Coordinators of Curriculum Systems Advising and provide coaching, leadership development, and capacity-building to those team members.
- Support Coordinators as they create and follow through on goals related to school progress and professional learning.
POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES
- Build credibility and relationships with senior LAUSD Regional staff and school leadership teams.
- Ensure top-quality delivery of professional learning services for their Region through effective coordination with LAUSD staff.
- Guide schools within their portfolio to meet improvement milestones, as collaboratively determined by the school and regional staff.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years of experience in education, including at least 5 years experience as an instructional leader.
- Strong preference for candidates with mathematics teaching experience and/or experience working across multiple school sites.
- Master’s degree or advanced degree related to teaching, instructional leadership or math required.
- Deep working knowledge of and experience with the Common Core Standards for Mathematics, the California Math Framework, and/or Illustrative Mathematics.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting salary range for external candidates is $135,188-$144,844. The Partnership’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our compensation practices.
