Head of Civil Engineering

Company serves a wide spectrum of clients including architects, developers, contractors and various other agencies and organizations, public and private. Accomplished work sectors include federal, multi-family housing, mixed use, healthcare, retail, educational, hotel, high rise, net zero energy, and commercial projects.
This position affords the candidate the opportunity to not only work on new and exciting projects, but also to expand their skills and knowledge in the realm of project pursuits, client management, and project management. Background in Planning Architecture, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources and Public Works.
10+ years of experience in the field as a Manager managing staff and projects.
- Evaluate and develop all civil design from schematic design through construction.
- Identify potential issues and present solutions.
- Plan, schedule, manage, design, and produce civil/site development documents.
- Engage in the full depth of the practice including project delivery, management, operations, and business development.
- Engineering design including grading, utilities and horizontal control for commercial site development and street improvement projects.
- Performing engineering calculations and analyses including but not limited to earthwork, drainage flow, storm water treatment, and sewer capacity analysis.
- Implementation of Low Impact Development on project designs.
- Management of projects, as well as junior engineers, designers, drafters, and clients.
- Construction Document preparation and specification preparation to accompany construction documents.
- Development of Erosion Control Plans, SWPPP’s and WQMP’s.
- Proposal preparation and resource budgeting for projects.
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD is required, while experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
Qualifications
- MA Degree in City/Regional Planning, BLA in Landscape Architecture or BS in Civil Engineering, plus a California PE, PLA or AICP. Working knowledge of public agency standards and guidelines.
- A professional engineering license in Civil Engineering from the State of California is required.
- A QSD/QSP qualification is similarly preferred, but not required.
