JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking exceptional, BE/BC career Hospitalists to join our expanding team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist - Wilkes Medical Center.

WMC has an open ICU. Tele ICU with aICU available.
- In addition to their core expertise managing the clinical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized patients, hospitalists are responsible for:
- Admitting adult patients with medical problems for hospital stay.
- Giving prompt and complete attention to all patient care needs including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within their scope of practice).
- Collaborating, communicating, and coordinating with all physicians from other sub-specialties and health care personnel caring for hospitalized patients.
- Attending and providing inpatient medicine consults and post-operative care to other medical and surgical specialties.
- Employing quality and processing improvement techniques.
- Conducting discharge planning and discharging patients.
- Safely transitioning patient care within the hospital, and from the hospital to the community, which may include oversight of care in post-acute care facilities.
- Efficiently using hospital and health care resources.
- Training or supervising medical students, residents, and other health care professionals.
- Responding to and managing any Rapid Responses or Codes.
- Assessing patients and developing appropriate plans as needed for any acute events of changes in patient status.
- Coordinating with nursing staff and responding to questions/concerns as needed.
- Providing appropriate hand-off/sign-out at the conclusion of their shift to the day team.
- Determining patients that require transfer to tertiary hospital and contacting PAL line to facilitate.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events); Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense; Well organized; Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting; Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments and health regimens to treat patient health issues; Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues; Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
