The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking a PART-TIME Physician to work in the Hematology/Oncology Section at our facility. The primary role is to provide clinical care in Hematology/Oncology to veterans presenting with various cancers. The physician will work 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule.
The Staff Physician - Hematology/Oncology's primary role is to provide clinical care in Hematology/Oncology and to oversee the education of Residents, Fellows, and Medical Students within his/her practice area.
Specialized Experience for Hematology/Oncology Physician includes:
- Interpret mutational and molecular genetic testing to guide chemotherapeutic agent prescribing.
- Complete life-sustaining therapy conferences with patients and family members.
- Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
- Treat diseases and disorders of the blood, spleen, lymph glands, and immunologic system, such as anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, leukemia, and lymph nodes.
- Administration of chemotherapeutic agents and biological response modifiers through all therapeutic routes.
- Apheresis procedures.
- Analyze blood tests manually, including blood count, platelets, and white cell differential.
- Diagnostic lumbar puncture.
- Perform bone marrow aspirates, bone marrow biopsies, and touch preparations as well as interpretation of bone marrow biopsies.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic paracentesis.
- Management of indwelling venous access catheters.
- Therapeutic thoracentesis.
