About the Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic Veterinarian to lead North East’s highly trained team. Our ideal candidate must possess strong medical, surgical or dentistry skills, be compassionate, have excellent client communication skills, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment. Our veterinarians have over 50 years of combined experience in small animal medicine, surgery and dentistry, and are eager to provide mentorship to new or recent graduates. We pride ourselves in offering high-quality, holistic and conventional veterinary medicine in a fun environment.

North East Animal Hospital, a two-doctor practice located in beautiful Elkton, Maryland, was established in 2012 with a mission to provide compassionate care, while utilizing best-practice protocols. Dr. Kerrianne Hanlin, the founder of North East Animal Hospital, has been trained and certified in animal chiropractic, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Western herbs, and other holistic modalities, and the entire staff works tirelessly to ensure that their clients and pets receive the highest standard of care and the most current and emerging therapies. Given its name by Captain John Smith due to its location at the head of the Elk River, Elkton is a gorgeous historical town located near the Chesapeake Bay in Cecil County, Maryland. Responsibilities
- Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
- Treat and dress wounds
- Perform surgery on animals
- Test for and vaccinate against diseases
- Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
- Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
- Prescribe medication
- Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
- Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
- Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
- Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
- Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
- Strong fondness and understanding of animals
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of animal behavior
- Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
