We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a highly customer-centric and early-stage team for Amazon Stores Finance Technology Team. The Team: WW Amazon Stores Finance is poised for a revolution. Historically, automation and technical infusion has taken a back-seat to important financial functions such as controllership, financial oversight, risk mitigation, and strong investment analysis. Finance is set to be the Chief Story Tellers, and along the way inject machine learning, BI, advanced analytics and technical tools – built to suit finance and business needs.
We are constantly innovating customer experience for internal Amazon customers. We focus on highly specialized space of Finance, Financial Planning, and Analytics space. We understand our customers well and expect the incumbent to have experience in solving customer problems in this space.

They are a great team player who will naturally elevate the performance of the people around them and have a track record of leading and delivering complex technical systems.
You will be working with a cross-functional team of software engineers, application engineers, data engineers, product managers, and customer service teams.

You are a true owner - you are passionate about the potential customer and societal impact and will operate at all levels, diving deep into the details while providing strategic inputs for the product.

The WWASFT team is looking for talented and passionate software engineering managers with strong technical and business systems backgrounds to build new financial planning & analytical services and products. This position is not for implementing or supporting existing software packages but rather for the development of new systems and internal customer-facing features that are critical to the success of our customer’s businesses.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in finance domain - Oracle Financials, SAP r/3, TM1 Planning
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Work with other senior leaders on the team to build the technical strategy & architecture for a new service
- Design & develop teams that build world-class software and services
- Mentor & grow engineers across the team, leading by example and insisting on high standards
- Develop tools & processes to enable best-in-class operations for our services
- As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a new service that will eventually scale across devices and mobile platforms. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You will be helping to hire and build your team and systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
