A law firm in San Diego is seeking a highly experienced Labor and Employment Litigator Partner to lead and manage a diverse caseload of employment matters. The ideal candidate will defend a wide range of employment cases throughout California, provide exceptional client service, and operate in a collaborative, team-focused environment with seasoned colleagues.
- Defend clients in legal proceedings related to California employment matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, wage & hour disputes, and other employment-related claims.
- Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated on relevant case law and developments in federal and California state employment laws.
- Develop and implement effective case and litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Draft a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and appeals.
- Take and defend depositions, as well as oversee all phases of discovery, including electronic evidence.
- Collaborate closely with clients, colleagues, and expert witnesses to develop comprehensive case strategies.
- Advocate zealously on behalf of management-side clients while maintaining high ethical standards throughout all legal proceedings.
- Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediations, and arbitrations as necessary.
- Supervise junior attorneys and paralegals in litigation tasks, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and legal representation.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the California State Bar with a solid understanding of federal and California state employment laws.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience specifically in employment law, defending a variety of employment lawsuits with proficiency in developing case strategies, interacting with clients and opposing counsel, and participating in trials and arbitrations.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, including supervising associate and paralegal work.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to directly engage with clients on complex employment-related matters.
