As the OB Medical Director you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction in all medical matters to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive health care services to our community. You will oversee the clinical operations, medical staff, and programs, while collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Officer to achieve the organization's mission and goals.
Essential Job Duties:
- Leadership and Strategic Direction:
- Provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of medical strategies aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborate with the executive team to establish goals, policies, and procedures that support the provision of quality healthcare services.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making.
- Clinical Oversight and Quality Improvement:
- Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, culturally competent medical care to patients served by the FQHC.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, patient safety, and satisfaction.
- Monitor clinical performance metrics and outcomes data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance excellence.
- Medical Staff Management:
- Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, culturally competent medical care to patients served by the FQHC.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, patient safety, and satisfaction.
- Monitor clinical performance metrics and outcomes data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance excellence.
- Physician Duties:
- Provide OB/GYN services for which the physician is trained within the clinic setting and Ohio Health Mansfield hospital setting.
- Expected to provide the number of budgeted patient visits annually as determined each year and adjusted with notice- this is minimal expectation.
- Required to provide on-call coverage at OhioHealth and all other duties required under the hospital privileging agreement.
- Observe and conform to the standards of Third Street Family Health Services.
- Active collaboration with and supervision of other health care providers including but not limited to Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives.
- Maintenance of all required licensures, certification, registration, training, medical knowledge (including but not limited to new or changing treatments and standards of care), and or expertise to meet the needs of patients of Third Street as determined by the organization.
- Acquisition of additional trainings, licensures, or certificates as deemed necessary by Third Street in the ongoing determination and mission to meet the needs of patients and the community.
- Maintaining on a current basis all appropriate patient records, and likewise to observe and conform to all laws, customs and ethics applicable to the medical profession.
Collaborate in a professional and collegial manner with all members of the health care team regardless of level of licensures. - Practice, communicate, and embody the dispassionate and unbiased delivery of care regardless of personal bias or prejudice and as appropriate for a professional of the rank of staff physician at Third Street.
- Compliance with administrative standards including but not limited to medical reports as outlined by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Participation in good faith in peer review audit of charts as designated by Third Street.
- To be available by Cell phone to Nurse Practitioners/ Physicians Assistants for consultation if off premises as required and regardless of scheduled work days.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain qualified medical professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants:
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to medical staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement professional development opportunities for medical staff.
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., HRSA, Joint Commission).
- Work closely with the CMO and CCO to develop and implement policies and protocols to mitigate clinical risks and promote patient safety.
- Collaborate with the CMO, CCO and legal counsel to address regulatory issues and maintain organizational integrity.
- Be a positive role model for all health center staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Supervisory Duties:
- OB providers including MDs, Women's Health Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of all available services provided at Third Street Family Health Services, community resources, interpersonal communication strategies, and computer software.
- Communicating effectively in both written and verbal form, managing multiple priorities, effective time management practices, problem-solving skills, and managing change and conflict.
- Ability to develop trust and effective working relationships with staff members, individuals, families and external and internal professionals.
- Ability to coach and mentor staff effectively.
- Strong information gathering/interviewing techniques.
- Effective leadership abilities including conflict resolution strategies and coaching skills.
- Understanding of employment law.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Ohio active, unrestricted medical license.
- Privileging with OhioHealth hospital.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in OB/GYN, including leadership or management roles.
- Demonstrated commitment to women's health, reproductive justice, and health equity.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a community clinic or safety-net health care organization preferred.
Personal Contacts:
- Frequent contact with staff of community agencies and the general public. Daily contact with agency staff. Must develop and maintain positive relationships with all of the above.

- Sitting or standing: should be able to sustain a seated or standing position for extended periods while meeting with patients/clients/external visitors, attending meetings, or performing administrative tasks.
- Emotional resilience: must have the emotional stability and resilience to work with clients/patients/coworkers facing challenging circumstances, maintaining composure and professionalism during difficult discussions.
- Sensory sensitivity: should be sensitive to the needs of clients/patients/coworkers and exhibit appropriate responses to their physical and emotional cues, ensuring a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
