Position: Corporate Counsel, Infrastructure
Location: Seattle, WA
You will be part of a larger global legal team responsible for counseling AWS on a broad range of health & safety, environmental, trade, and products regulatory and compliance matters. You will work directly with AWS’s global health and safety team to support various AWS business functions – including AWS data center infrastructure and operations, construction, supply chain, procurement, engineering, and product functions. Principal duties include:
- Providing day-to-day advice on health and safety compliance issues;
- Monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes;
- Developing and improving policies and procedures;
- Working cross-functionally with other data center teams to ensure compliance;
- Resolving issues that arise in compliance areas including inspections and pre-litigation disputes.
The qualified candidate must have 5+ years of legal experience advising on health and safety laws or similar regulatory compliance issues. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, pragmatic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and working in a fun, team-oriented environment. They must demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. A J.D. degree and membership in one state bar is required. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations, with a preference for Seattle:
- J.D. degree (or equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
- 5+ years of legal experience
- 3+ years of experience providing legal counsel and support for health & safety and regulatory compliance matters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience
- Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
