The successful candidate should be able to perform thorough history and physical assessment, general periop and postoperative management. Also, able to evaluate, assess, implement plans and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to surgical illness or injury.The candidate will serve in-house at night alongside a Cabarrus Acute Care Surgeon and cover inpatient needs of Gynecologic Oncology patients. This is an innovative program to develop an APP workforce to meet the urgent after hours needs of surgical patients at Atrium Health Cabarrus across several services. The position offers the opportunity to participate in a program which will expand over time to meet the needs of multiple surgical teams.

Nighttime Shifts and assignments cross covering between the Cabarrus Acute Care Surgery, and AH Gynecologic Oncology
Work alongside in house Acute Care Surgeon, while communicating with Gyn Onc attending as needed regarding their patients
Every other Weekend, Holidays required.
Teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS preferred.
Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.Acute Care board certificationrequiredbased upon population and acuity served.
Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, master’s degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
