We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic and expanding team. In the role of Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that our systems are built to make it easy for customers to enforce to the latest and most effective security practices. Collaborating within a cross-functional team of engineering, security and product, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a best-in-class modern Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure to bolster our overall security posture throughout the organization. You will take part in development, modernization or unification of our systems to be able to withstand the test of time and be sustainably expanded to cover a growing set of Apple’s requirements. Your duties will also include operating your services to achieve high availability and low latency SLOs. Minimum Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in Golang and Java, as you'll be working extensively with Go-based and Java-based systems
- Experience with design and implementation of large scale, highly available, distributed, secure and fault tolerant systems and web services
- Experience in managing application performance and making decisions by with using request tracing and telemetry
- Familiarity with incident response processes and the ability to respond to and prevent operational and security incidents effectively
- Excellent understanding of operating systems concepts that contribute to applications performance and scalability: multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage
- Solid understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth, JWT, and/or other identity and access management protocols
- Working knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols for securing data, including TLS/SSL, digital signatures, hashing, and encryption
- BS/MS in Computer Science or Equivalent (7+ years of software development or production operations experience in a large-scale environment)
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with systems, including the ability to configure and troubleshoot system initialization processes
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization (CNCF Kubernetes Developer or equivalent) is a plus
- Experience with Open Policy Agent is a plus
- Understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and secure communication channels is a plus
- Proficiency in macOS system administration, with a focus on Launchd, the init and service management framework is a plus
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
