Role Overview:

Our family-managed company is looking for a Director of Accounting to join our team. This is a hands-on role where the Director of Accounting will manage the company's financial records, ensuring accurate financial transactions, preparing financial statements, conducting analysis to support business decisions, and maintaining compliance with tax regulations.

This role is critical as it will be the cornerstone of our in-house accounting function, and will help in leading a team of bookkeepers in setting accounting policies, providing guidance on accounting procedures and providing essential financial oversight and ensuring the company’s financial health. As the lead accountant, the successful candidate will be the go-to person for all things accounting at Brickley Enterprises and its sister companies.

This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will work closely with the Owner and CEO on forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis and trend analysis in helping to manage an annual business portfolio of ~ $10M.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in accounting principles, cost accounting, have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills. We are looking for someone who is highly detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be extremely flexible and will embrace the various roles they will experience working in a group of dynamic, growing family businesses. Responsibilities:

Responsible for the preparation and review of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including balance sheet, income statements and other regulatory reports.
Reviewing and reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts, and working with external auditors to facilitate audit processes as needed.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implementing new systems as needed to maintain control over accounting transactions, maintain accuracy and minimize risk.
Responsible for the accuracy of the financial information in QB Online, ensuring tasks are completed timely and according to established policies and procedures.
Financial performance review – Manage accounting budget and system, which has low risk due to controls set in place. Provide financial analysis with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations as requested or required.
Data entry in QB Online, troubleshooting & reconciling.
Manage AP and AR utilizing Aging reports, verify outstanding items are collectible and payable, coordinate collections.
Oversight in processing payroll utilizing 3rd party software, bi-monthly.
Recommend and monitor financial benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance and ensure on track to meet goals.
Produce an annual budget and forecast; monitor and report significant differences to the Owner and CEO.
Meet regularly with the Owner and CEO providing additional financial reports as requested, detail related to financial statements and report any areas of concern.
Work closely with outside CPA throughout the year.
Help direct other in-house bookkeepers in related companies.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
Solution-oriented “CAN DO!” attitude with desire to grow & learn.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum 3-5 years of related experience required.

Job Type:

Full-time, on-site, Monday to Friday.
