PURPOSE:
The Early Childhood Inclusion Specialist will coordinate, implement and evaluate the Inclusive Partners Program (IP) to support early care and education providers in Coos and Curry Counties. This position conducts coaching and technical assistance with early educators to support quality inclusive care and environments. Activities will include consulting with parents and educators as well as providing professional development opportunities for early learning professionals.

Description of Essential Functions

Project Coordination (30% of time)

Coordinate with IP staff and CARE Connections team to coordinate and implement inclusive practices throughout the region
Coordinate and deliver training, consultation, and technical assistance to early care and education providers to support quality inclusive child care
Independently develop and conduct early educator trainings based on the Oregon Registry’s Core Knowledge Categories
Manage and report project data
Conduct community presentations and work on community projects to support inclusion
Attend training and Communities of Practice facilitated by the Department of Early Learning and Care and partner agencies to align inclusive practices across the state.

Direct Services (60% of time)

Coordinate trainings based on common needs of multiple early care and education programs
Provide individual support including: material review and feedback, connection to resources, ongoing guidance and check-in with early educators
Provide on-site coaching visits to programs needing intensive support through observation and feedback
Facilitate Community of Practice sessions to support inclusive practices
Support educators in their environmental and individual inclusive accommodation strategies
Complete environmental and individual observations/assessment tools as deemed appropriate

Care Connections Programmatic Support (10% of Time)

Attend staff meetings and liaison meetings with the Early Learning Division
Actively participate in staff professional development
Contribute to newsletter
Help to coordinate and provide community training at Retreat by the Lake and at other opportunities throughout the year
Stay abreast of developments that affect early care and education programs, such as changes in licensing, funding opportunities, and further professionalization opportunities for the field.
Participate in Care Connections projects as they develop, including various projects designed to increase and stabilize child care in our region.
Collaborate positively with CCR&R team members to assure high quality services

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (human development, child and family studies, social work, early intervention/early childhood special education, education) OR step 10 on Oregon Registry.

Three (3) years of direct service in the field of Early Childhood Care and Education.

One (1) year experience supporting adult professional development required.

Demonstrated experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods

Strong knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education, Human Services, and/or Human Development
Ability to plan, organize, and effectively manage time.
Ability to work varied hours including some evenings and weekends to meet scheduling demands of early learning professionals.
Ability to build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and provide services that are culturally competent and appropriate to the needs of the target audience.
Ability to independently perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts and demonstrate empathy, and friendliness in dealing with people under stressful conditions, either by phone, through video or in person.
Ability to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
Ability to use equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities such as, but not limited to, computer and virtual training software such as Zoom and PowerPoint, child care management software, Google Sheets, and more.
Ability to create ongoing trusting relationships with early education programs to develop the most conducive environment for learning and reflection.
Ability to implement effective techniques for adult learning.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES:

Hold or ability to obtain valid driver’s license and meet the college’s insurance requirements
Hold or ability to hold an Infant Child CPR/First Aid certification
Must be able to pass Oregon Child Care Central Background Registry/finger printing and SWOCC background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual English/Spanish

Knowledge of community child care programs, subsidies, community resources, and state regulations pertaining to child care preferred.
