Job Location: Salt Lake City

Pay: 110-140K (DOE)

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Psych Physician Assistant (APRN/PA) functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients in an outpatient setting. The APRN/PA demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in adults with serious mental illness. They are responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients with serious mental illness. The APRN/PA demonstrates advanced psychiatric/medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and integrated care practice. They work with mental health and nursing teams to assure safe, effective, quality patient care. The APRN/PA will provide care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy, and practice agreements.

Clinical Knowledge:

Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of medical conditions.
Performs psychiatric assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant, and appropriate for age, gender, and clinical problems.
Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interpret the results.
Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
Develops, implements, evaluates, and alters the care plan as needed.
Manages serious mental illness based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
Counsels and educates patients and families.
Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Specific Responsibilities:

Conducts comprehensive mental health assessment of patients with chronic mental health conditions.
Establish psychiatric diagnoses and treatment plans.
Collaborate with and provide expertise to the multidisciplinary team regarding patient’s treatment.
Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice.
Provide appropriate direction to the team regarding patient care issues.
Communicate effectively with community partners.
Participate in a team model of care delivery.
Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities. Identify important aspects of care and ensure findings are used to improve practice and operations.
Is responsible for timely and accurate written documentation or dictation of patient care encounters/procedures.

Requirements

Must-Have Requirements:

Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited nursing or PA program
Active Utah State license to practice within APRN/PA scope
Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license
Not excluded from participating in government programs (OIG exclusion list)
CPR certification and advanced life support certifications, if relevant to the practice area
(ACLS, PALS, NRP)
Ability and/or willingness to become Medication Assisted Treatment waived
Ability to care for acutely and chronically ill patients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional demeanor
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete required documentation with timeliness and accuracy
Willingness to receive Flu vaccines and TB tests annually
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check
